His friend, DJ Slugo, paid tribute, calling him a major influence in the genre. Funk, born Charles Chambers, was known for his distinct beats, vocals, and bass, with iconic tracks like Pump It and Run. In the ’90s, he honed his craft at underground parties, working with artists like DJ Deeon and Slugo. Funk also founded Funk Records in 2006 and collaborated with many prominent figures in the scene. His family created a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs, emphasizing his fight against cancer and his legacy in music.
