Vivek Ramaswamy, biotech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, will not take on the co-chair role of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), despite being appointed by President Trump. Shortly after the announcement, sources confirmed Ramaswamy’s withdrawal due to structural problems within DOGE, an organization he helped create with Elon Musk. These internal issues reportedly made it impossible for him to continue his affiliation with the department.
Instead, Ramaswamy is shifting his focus to state politics, with an expected announcement soon that he will run for governor of Ohio. This decision follows Governor Mike DeWine’s appointment of Jon Husted to the U.S. Senate, which opened a leadership opportunity in the state. Although Ramaswamy’s previous presidential bid ended prematurely after a weak Iowa caucus performance, he has since gained recognition as a strong Trump supporter—a position that could significantly strengthen his prospects in heavily Republican Ohio.
