DHS Notifies 530,000 Migrants They Must Leave U.S.: Report

The Trump administration is swiftly dismantling the Biden-era CHNV parole program, which allowed over 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter the U.S. with two-year work permits if sponsored. This move follows a Supreme Court ruling siding with former President Trump, enabling the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to terminate parole protections and employment authorization for these individuals. Officials from the Trump administration criticized the program as a national security risk and accused the Biden administration of promoting mass migration without adequate oversight. They argue the policy lacked enforcement, effectively creating a backdoor amnesty that bypassed Congress and weakened border security.

DHS has begun notifying affected migrants via email that their parole has been revoked and that they must leave the country unless they obtain legal status. To facilitate this, DHS is promoting voluntary departures through the CBP Home Mobile App, offering travel assistance and a $1,000 exit incentive. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the previous program for endangering American jobs and fostering fraud, celebrating the Supreme Court’s decision as a victory for rule of law and border security. The Trump administration asserts that this rollback restores responsible immigration enforcement and national safety while ending lenient policies that allowed unchecked entry. This shift aligns with the broader America First agenda and aims to reestablish control over the nation’s borders and immigration system.
