Donald Trump puts French President Emmanuel Macron in two embarrassing positions on his visit to Washington DC

Donald Trump appeared to humiliate French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to the White House by not greeting him properly. Macron was placed at the side of Trump’s desk in the Oval Office, while footage later showed him in the corner during a Zoom call with world leaders, as Trump sat in the middle. The two did have a firm handshake during their scheduled greeting.

Trump caused controversy by criticizing Ukrainian President Zelensky and claiming Ukraine started the war, not Russia. Before the visit, Macron said he would warn Trump not to yield to Putin and that it was in Trump’s interest to resist Moscow. During a press conference, Trump called the conflict a “rough war” and warned it could lead to a Third World War, stressing that more lives could be lost.

The two presidents, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, spoke with G7 leaders about the ongoing crisis, with discussions focusing on pressure on Russia and further support for Ukraine.
