The wife sent her husband a text: “Don’t forget to buy BREAD when you come home from work and your girlfriend Valerie greets you.” It was a sneaky tactic to make sure he read the message—throw in something shocking, and he’d definitely reply.
Her plan worked. The husband responded immediately, asking, “Who is Valerie??” To which she replied, “Nobody! I just wanted to make sure you read the message.” But then his next reply made her freeze: “I’m actually with Valerie right now… I thought you saw me?”
Panic set in. Heart racing, she demanded to know where he was. He said, “Near the bakery… you know, the one you love so much.” She didn’t hesitate. Purse in hand, she rushed out the door, questions swirling in her head—Who’s Valerie? Is he cheating? How long has this been going on?
In under five minutes, she was at the bakery, frantically scanning the area. She looked behind cars, around corners, even inside the store, ready to catch him in the act. But there was no sign of him anywhere.
Shaking with emotion, she texted him again: “I’m at the bakery. WHERE ARE YOU??” His reply came instantly: “I’m at work. 😂 Now that you’re already at the bakery, why don’t you just buy the bread?”
She stood frozen, realizing she had just fallen for his trap. Her rage turned into stunned disbelief, then into laughter. He had completely flipped the situation—and now she was the one standing in line at the bakery.
As she texted back that he’d regret this when he got home, she added, “Fine… I’ll buy the bread.” He cheekily replied, “Thank you, my love! And tell Valerie I said hi. 😉”
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help smiling. On a whim, she also bought his favorite pastries. When she got home, he was already at the door, arms open and grinning.
She tried to stay mad, but laughter won. They hugged, laughed, and turned a moment of suspicion into a story they’d tell for years—a funny reminder of how even pranks can strengthen love.
