Jane’s room was full of unique things—framed bugs and even a pet tarantula named Rosie, whom she absolutely adored. Her sister Celia, however, wasn’t impressed. She often criticized Jane, saying, “You spend your money on junk.”
One day, I decided to turn Celia’s complaints into a little prank. I ordered a second tarantula for her, complete with a habitat, food, and a cheeky note that read: “Since you always want what Jane gets—enjoy! Love, Andrew.”
The moment the tarantula arrived, chaos ensued. Celia’s phone was flooded with seventeen missed calls and her voicemail was full of screaming messages. She had a full-blown meltdown, screaming and dropping the box—luckily, the spider stayed safely inside.
In the midst of the chaos, Celia even called Jane’s brother to “banish” the tarantula from her room. The whole scene was like something out of a cartoon, full of wild reactions and drama.
Despite the initial shock, Jane found the situation hilarious. She laughed so hard she cried, thoroughly enjoying Celia’s unexpected reaction.
What surprised me most was that Celia didn’t complain about unequal gifts anymore. The prank seemed to have a lasting effect on her attitude toward fairness.
The whole episode taught a simple lesson: if you demand equal treatment, be prepared to receive exactly what you asked for—whether you like it or not.
In the end, the tarantula prank brought laughter and a new sense of peace between the sisters, proving that sometimes humor is the best way to settle disputes.
