Joe Biden hits back at Donald Trump’s investigation

President Donald Trump has announced an investigation into what he calls a major deception during Joe Biden’s presidency. Trump claims that the American people were misled about Biden’s cognitive state, alleging that aides used an autopen—a device to replicate signatures—to authorize executive actions while Biden was not mentally fit to lead. Trump believes this masked a broader conspiracy about who was truly in charge during Biden’s term.

In a statement reported by the BBC, Trump accused the previous administration of purposefully shielding the public from knowing who exercised presidential power. He claimed Biden’s replicated signature was used to push radical policy changes, framing the situation as “one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.” Trump has directed the White House counsel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and other officials to investigate whether individuals within Biden’s team conspired to deceive the public and unlawfully wield executive authority.

President Biden quickly responded, firmly rejecting Trump’s claims. In a same-day statement, Biden declared, “I made the decisions during my presidency.” He emphasized his role in making key policy choices, including executive orders and legislative actions, and called any claim to the contrary “ridiculous and false.” Biden also suggested that Trump’s investigation was a distraction from real issues, accusing the former president of trying to divert attention from policies that favor the wealthy.

The accusations come at a politically sensitive time, as Biden recently revealed a prostate cancer diagnosis. Trump and his allies seized on this revelation, claiming Biden concealed his condition during his time in office. They argue this was part of a broader effort to keep the public in the dark about the president’s health and capabilities.

This latest clash between Trump and Biden adds further tension to an already divided political landscape. While Biden defends his record and leadership, Trump continues to press allegations that strike at the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency. The investigation—if pursued—could escalate political hostilities and deepen the public’s mistrust in institutions, with both sides accusing the other of deception and manipulation. The outcome of these claims remains to be seen, but they have already sparked fierce debate across the nation.
