Brandon, homeless and poor, offered his last $2 to an elderly man in need at a gas station store. The next day, he inherited the man’s company, thinking it was the start of a new life for his family.
Brandon entered the store, holding his cup of change. He noticed an elderly man struggling to hear the cashier. A line of impatient shoppers stood behind him. The cashier, frustrated, was telling the man he didn’t have enough money for the water.
“I’m sorry, what did you say about the water being funny?” the man asked, confused.
The cashier snapped, “You don’t have enough money, sir!”
The elderly man, still unsure, asked if he could get a smaller bottle of water to take his pills. The cashier, growing annoyed, ignored him. A young man behind the elderly man angrily grabbed his shoulder, yelling, “You need more cash for the water!”
Brandon felt the urge to help but hesitated, not wanting to make things worse. The cashier, fed up, told the elderly man to leave. “Just get out, old man! You’re too much trouble!” she snapped.
That’s when Brandon stepped forward. He emptied his cup of change onto the counter and paid for the water. “Here you go, sir,” he said, offering the bottle with a kind smile.
The elderly man thanked him. As they left the store, Brandon was heading to his tent when the man stopped him. He had something important to say.
