A recent CNN poll reveals that a majority of Americans support the creation of a third political party to challenge the current dominance of Democrats and Republicans. According to the survey, 63% of U.S. adults are open to the idea of a new party. However, when asked about a potential party led by Elon Musk, public opinion turns sharply negative.
Only 25% of respondents said they would support a party under Musk’s leadership, while 74% opposed it. This strong opposition comes amid Musk’s recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter) that he plans to launch the “America Party.” The move followed Musk’s criticism of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which he labeled wasteful and corrupt.
Musk, once an ally of Trump, has claimed that the U.S. no longer functions as a true democracy, describing it instead as a “one-party system.” His new party aims to restore freedom to Americans, though CNN data analyst Harry Enten quickly dismissed the effort as “close to dead on arrival,” given the polling numbers.
The survey also underscored a decline in Musk’s personal popularity. Only 23% of those surveyed viewed him favorably, while 60% expressed unfavorable opinions. The poll was conducted between July 10 and 13 with a representative sample of 1,057 adults and has a margin of error of ±3.5%.
Separately, Tesla’s Cybertruck is facing significant sales challenges. Despite over 2 million pre-orders, Tesla has delivered just 10,700 Cybertrucks in 2025, falling well short of expectations. Q2 sales dropped 51% compared to the previous year, with only 4,300 units sold.
The Cybertruck’s starting price has also increased sharply, now starting at $80,000—far above the $50,000 originally promised in 2019. Tesla has remained silent on these disappointing figures, while competitors such as Ford and GMC continue to outperform Tesla in electric truck sales.
