Paralyzed Dog Abandoned with a Bag of Diapers Finds Love Before Her Final Goodbye

Some pet owners are unwilling to take on the challenge of caring for a disabled pet. Unfortunately, this frequently results in the abandonment of paralyzed dogs, as was the case with Lunetta, a charming little dog who was left chained to a railing on the streets of Salta, Argentina.

When a staff member at a local dog care center saw Lunetta, she was appalled by her state. Without food or water, she lay helplessly on the pavement with her back legs strapped to a rusty wheelchair.

A bag of diapers and a note with her name, age, and the tragic explanation that her owners were no longer able to care for her were found next to her.

Two volunteers hurried to check on Lunetta’s condition and get her to safety after rescue group Luba Salta was contacted right away.

Her story was posted on Facebook in an attempt to find a family that would take in a paralyzed dog after she was placed in a foster home.

She was soon approached by an American family who offered to adopt her. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for the level of care she needed, even though it seemed like a dream come true. Lunetta’s health quickly deteriorated after she contracted a serious staph infection as a result of neglect.

Another American family intervened and provided Lunetta with the care and medical attention she required just when her future appeared uncertain once more. She recovered miraculously with the right care and was able to enjoy the happiness of a real home at last.

With a specially made wheelchair that allowed her to move freely, a dog sister to play with, and countless adventures, her new life was full of joy.

She played in the snow, ran through parks, and even took part in family Christmas celebrations.

Eventually, though, time caught up with her. Lunetta became ill a month after turning eleven and was taken to the University Medical Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Although she fought valiantly, she died surrounded by her loved ones.

“I will never forget her and how much she meant to me,” her adoptive mother wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post. She permanently altered my life. I adored her dearly.

Even though Lunetta’s journey came to an end, her final year was full of happiness, love, and the attention she had always been due. Her tale serves as a reminder that all dogs, regardless of their circumstances, should have the opportunity to live happy lives.

Sweet Lunetta, may you rest in peace. In her honor, tell your friends and family about her if her story moved you.
