President Zelenskyy issues statement after leaving White House as Trump accused him of ‘gambling with WW3’

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a statement after a tense meeting with President Donald Trump on February 28. The meeting, held in the Oval Office, focused on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Trump, in a heated exchange, warned Zelenskyy, saying, “You’re gambling with World War III!” He criticized Ukraine’s position, claiming Zelenskyy was in a “bad position” and lacked the leverage to dictate terms. Vice President JD Vance also interjected, asking Zelenskyy to express gratitude for U.S. support.

Zelenskyy left the White House without attending a planned press conference. Later, he thanked the U.S. for its support, emphasizing Ukraine’s goal for lasting peace.

Trump shared a statement on Truth Social, stating that Zelenskyy wasn’t ready for peace if America was involved and that he disrespected the U.S. He added that Zelenskyy could return when he was ready for a more constructive dialogue.
