You’re gambling with World War III!” Trump criticized Zelenskyy for being in a “bad spot” and lacking leverage in negotiations.
Trump later posted online, stating that the conversation revealed emotions that showed Zelenskyy wasn’t ready for peace if the U.S. was involved, as Zelenskyy viewed American involvement as a negotiating advantage. Trump emphasized his desire for peace, not advantage, and accused Zelenskyy of disrespecting the U.S. in the Oval Office.
