Looking back on the life of Barbara Eden

Barbara Eden, the beloved star of I Dream of Jeannie, is celebrating her 92nd birthday on August 23, 2023, looking fantastic as ever. Fans still adore her, nearly 60 years after she brought the iconic genie to life on screen.

However, her personal life has been marked by tragedy, as she lost her son, Matthew Ansara, to a heroin overdose in 2001. Matthew, who struggled with addiction, had been in and out of rehab for years. Despite efforts to help him, his battle with drugs ended in his accidental overdose at 35.

Eden, who married twice more after her divorce from Matthew’s father, continues to cherish her career and family, recently appearing on Worst Cooks in America and in My Adventures with Santa.
