Tragedy struck a Florida family at the start of summer when 11-year-old Jordan Roe lost her life in a tubing accident at Star Lake on June 24, 2025. Known affectionately as “the protector” of her family, Jordan spent the day with her cousins, 8-year-old Laila and 9-year-old Brylee, tubing behind a Sea-Doo jet ski and enjoying a family barbecue. What began as a day of fun ended in heartbreak when the watercraft veered out of control, striking a dock and throwing the children into the lake.
Initially, officials mistakenly reported the victim as Laila. It was later confirmed that Jordan had died, Laila was critically injured, and Brylee escaped with minor injuries. Family members described Jordan’s selfless act in the moments before the accident. Her aunt explained that Jordan shielded her cousins from the impact, sacrificing her own life to protect them.
Laila underwent several surgeries, while her mother, Kristine Robinson, was away caring for a newborn when she received the devastating news. Speaking afterward, Robinson urged families to remain vigilant around water, saying, “Hold your babies tight… accidents happen in a blink.” The family has had to navigate grief while supporting Laila through her recovery.
Jordan’s dreams of becoming a veterinarian will never be realized, but her legacy continues through organ donation, which saved lives after her passing. The family launched two GoFundMe campaigns to help cover funeral and medical expenses, and support has poured in from across the country.
Longtime residents of Star Lake remain shaken by the tragedy, noting how peaceful the area usually feels. Jordan’s bravery and selflessness have left a lasting impression, ensuring that her memory endures not only through her courage but also in the lives she protected and touched.
